Hi,
there is a fedora-devel thread on whether to activate a yum plugin in
FC5 which will block package upgrades of Fedora Core (and most likely
Fedora Extras) by default.
For 3rd party repos with packages overlapping with those from Fedora
Core and Fedora Extras this means
o either to manage to get the repo going w/o replacing such
packages. This may or may not be easy for some repos.
o or to have documenation on how users can deactivate this feature to
allow package upgrades to happen.
Personally I'm not fond of adding another layer of installation
instructions and have more bogus bug reports due to people not
allowing package upgrades. But other repo maintainers' opinion will
differ. As the question was put forward what 3rd party repo
maintainers think of it, you should state your opinion, either here
(I'll post a summary to fedora-devel) or on fedora-devel directly.
